The Spectrum Building is a multi-tenant office in Glasgow’s thriving city centre.

Form were appointed by new owners, Futureal and Trinovo, to look at the building's arrival space, and the possibility of a new welfare facility.

Through early discussions, it was deemed the building lacked facilities to support the health and wellbeing of its people. And, with a drive for people to travel to work using more sustainable means, a secure bike store and showers was agreed.

The Client was also keen to provide a social space, within the arrival area, to support collaboration, dining and events. A tea point was provided to allow tenants to get away from their desks to enjoy a brew in comfortable surroundings.

A decision was taken to convert an adjacent retail unit, which now allows for the new entrance and arrival space, with improved street presence, on the more desirable Waterloo Street.

A further vacant retail space was identified for a separate welfare facility, and this now provides secure bike storage, showers and changing areas.

The new arrival space is set behind a remodelled glass façade, and the south-facing elevation is a double-height space, benefitting from natural light, providing a relaxing environment for both tenants and visitors.

Planting features heavily, and off-sets the industrial aesthetic of the stripped back interior shell.

Feedback has been extremely positive, with tenant satisfaction surveys supporting the need to invest in good facilities for occupants' health and wellbeing.

As a result, the new facilities have already seen an increase in daily cycling, walking and running commutes.
