Form DC were appointed to develop the workplace strategy and the design for their new Edinburgh HQ
Identifying requirements
Building occupancy and projected growth data informed the requirements of the consolidated office, showing an increase in demand for socialisation and collaboration space, but also areas for focused working.
A brand new restaurant was also seen as an important asset for supporting the health and wellbeing of RLG’s people.
The restaurant is a flexible, multi-purpose area, which provides space for dining, events, informal meetings and individual working. Circulation routes are key to separating the different areas.
Larger soft seating areas were placed around the periphery of the space, with flexible products utilised in the centre, ensuring the optimum balance between comfort and mobility.
Fresh spaces
A unused roof space became an outdoor terrace, providing an additional wellbeing area, improved accessibility and wheelchair access.
A suite of larger meetings rooms was created, incorporating excellent acoustics, in order to support new ways of working, group collabortion and an increase in online meetings.
Sustainable strategies
The use of existing furniture ensures a truly sustainable and cost-effective solution.
This project has been popular with both staff and visitors, and Form DC continue to support RLG with In Use reviews and the development of future workplace strategies.
