Previously a franchisor for a multinational restaurant chain, OCO Westend opened its first Starbucks operation in Scotland in 2013 and has since become a top performer for the brand in the UK and Europe.

Form Design Consultants was appointed to carry out the strategic design transformation of OCO's new office headquarters in Paisley.

The challenge was to create an inspiring, healthy workplace where employees could work effectively and come together for training and collaborative learning.

Through a strategic briefing process, Form gathered the quantitative data and, importantly, cultural aspects of the business.

An employee satisfaction survey provided useful insights into the business and how the new office could help improve the lives of the people working there.

The main objectives of the project were to future-proof the space for potential expansion, improve the quality, value and durability of the areas and to increase user enjoyment.

OCO West End is set over two floors. The first floor has been designed to accommodate the current office requirement, with the ground floor a more flexible space for expansion.

A generous tea point and lounge, flexible training space and gym encourage social interaction and support the health and wellbeing of OCO’s people.

Ceilings have been painted out, rather than stripped out, supporting the sustainable approach.

Finishes are practical and durable, as well as aesthetically pleasing.

The resulting aesthetic aligns with OCO’s brand – attention to detail, quality materials and a progressive outlook.

Form is delighted with the positive feedback received and looks forward to seeing OCO Westend thrive in its stunning new headquarters.
