The Partnership was one of 13 applicants selected in the world's first leasing round designed to enable offshore wind energy to directly supply offshore oil and gas platforms.
UK Hub
Having recently been involved in the extensive refurbishment programme for 2 Lochrin Square, Form DC were ideally placed to see how this CAT A project would support a new tenant’s fit-out requirements.
The Partnership's new Edinburgh office has been established as a hub from which to develop the UK pipeline of floating offshore wind farms.
Connection with nature
The brief included the requirement to 'bring the outside in', in order to create a bright, friendly and welcoming agile environment.
A biophillic design approach was used to create this connection between the occupants and nature, promoting the optimisation of productivity and health.
Repurposing
With sustainability being as important to the Partnership as it is to Form DC, the reduction of negative impacts on the environment was imperative in the design approach.
The Landlord's requirement for new suspended ceilings and lighting presented a challenge, which was met by the retention or repurposing of most, with some suspended features being dropped below the tile.
Ceiling tiles have been repurposed, where possible, as items such as magnetic wallboards. The yarn for carpet tiles has come from recycled fishing nets and other carpets.
Kitchen worktops have been manufactured locally and incorporate 85% recycled content, most of which comes from rejected knotted or split timber.
West End opening
The office, in Edinburgh's West End, was opened in November 2023 by the Scottish Minister for Energy and the Environment.
It will initially house the Bluefloat Energy & Renantis Partnership's team of almost fifty.
