Following successful completion of the Edinburgh and Glasgow offices, Form was delighted to also be appointed workplace designers for 1 Marischal Square
The brief
The brief was to carry over Wallace Whittle’s strong brand identity to a compact and modern environment.
Although similar in floor space to the Edinburgh office, 1 Marischal Square differs in terms of its greater volume and expansive atrium glazing.
The components which would link all offices together were identified and included not only the products and materials, but also work settings.
Focus, collaboration, social and support spaces were carefully planned to create an effective and efficient hybrid working office.
'We see the importance of having the very best office facilities to attract and retain staff and to make our clients feel appreciated when they visit'
Andy Forbes , Aberdeen location director
A welcome arrival
The principles agreed previously were applied in Aberdeen, with the front section of the office providing space to collaborate and socialise in.
Beyond the veil of open shelving and display is the focus working area.
The arrival space offers refreshments to employees and visitors which, research has shown, is a key consideration when welcoming people back to the office.
Natural lighting
The warmth and informal nature of the arrival space continues through to the meeting room, which benefits specialist lighting, heating and ventilation.
The focus space has been strategically placed to benefit from natural light and a peaceful location.
The artist commissioned for murals in Glasgow and Edinburgh has produced a stunning Aberdeen cityscape, seamlessly connecting all of the offices.
Outcome
The Aberdeen design builds on the success of both the Edinburgh and Glasgow offices.
Not only is it distinctly WW in operation and appearance, boldly reflecting their culture, the design also responds uniquely to the building itself.
