Aiming to introduce an environment which allowed staff to work collaboratively in open plan, Opus also wanted to encourage teams to socialise away from their desks
Aesthetic
Throughout the design process, Form worked closely with the Client to understand the cultural changes involved when moving from individual offices to open plan.
Form engaged with staff to analyse how they were working, together with requirements for their new environment.
Opus 2 were clear on the desired aesthetic with brand identity being important as well as a slight industrial feel to the new space.
Form formulated a design which reflected this, including bold feature lighting softened with warm timbers and subtle patterns in the upholstery and flooring.
Personality
Opus’ desire to work with local artists led to Form engaging with a local calligrapher for wall art and neon artist for signage, giving a unique, personal touch to the space.
The layout allows for a large flexible break out area for events, large internal meetings and socialising, not only for use during lunch breaks, but at the end of each week.
A workshop and enclosed office allow for private meetings, and informal meeting pods can be used for focused individual work, away from the open plan space.
The completed office design has successfully provided Opus 2 with a modern and vibrant workplace environment.
'We’re very happy and the space is looking fantastic! It’s got a great feel to it and holds its own compared to our other recently refurbed offices in London and Singapore. It will serve us very well as Opus 2 continues to invest and expand the Edinburgh team.'
